Lighting in Pakistan: Ceiling Lights, Chandeliers, Wall Lights and LED Choices

Lighting in Pakistan has moved from one bulb per room to layered schemes: ceiling lights for general light, wall and task lights for use and chandeliers or pendants for style. LED has taken over because it costs little to run and lasts for years, so the real choices are the type of fixture, the brightness and the colour. This guide explains the types, how to layer light, how to choose LED bulbs and gives indicative price ranges. It links to a guide for every type, from ceiling lights to chandeliers.

The main types of light

Each type does a different job.

Layer the light

Good rooms use at least two layers: ambient light from the ceiling, task light where you read or cook and accent light for mood. Put each layer on its own switch or dimmer so the room works at different times. Our guide to lighting ideas by room applies this to each room.

LED bulbs, colour and brightness

Choose warm white, around 2700 to 3000 K, for living rooms and bedrooms, neutral white, around 4000 K, for kitchens and studies and daylight, around 6500 K, only where you want a cool, bright look. See LED bulbs and the LED bulb watt guide for watts and lumens.

Plan lighting with the ceiling

Plan wiring and fixture positions before a false ceiling closes. Coordinating the ceiling and the lights gives a clean, built-in look; see false ceilings and ceiling light design.

How we quote

Send the room size, a sketch or photo and the finish you like. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists every item. Before you order, confirm the exact size or model, ask for the specification and warranty in writing, and compare totals including fitting and delivery rather than the item price alone. To get a close first estimate, clear the area, mark sockets, switches and pipe positions, note the ceiling height and photograph the space from two corners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use a mix. LED ceiling lights give general light, wall or table lamps add mood and task light and one feature fixture such as a chandelier or pendant adds style. Put each layer on its own switch or dimmer, and choose warm white for living spaces.

Yes. LED lights use far less power than old bulbs, run cooler and last for years, which matters with high electricity costs. Choose a reputable brand, check the stated watts and lumens and avoid very cheap bulbs that fail early or flicker. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.

Warm white, around 2700 to 3000 K, suits living rooms and bedrooms, neutral white around 4000 K suits kitchens and studies and daylight around 6500 K suits garages and work areas. Keep the colour consistent within one room. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the supplier before ordering.

It depends on the size and the use. A common starting point is to plan enough lumens for the floor area and to use several light sources, not one bulb. Add dimmers where you want flexibility and test with real bulbs before final fixing.

Indicative ranges are PKR 150 to 250 for basic LED bulbs, PKR 240 to 400 for downlights, PKR 1,000 to 3,700 for modern pendants and PKR 15,000 to 35,000 for home-size crystal chandeliers. Prices vary with brand and size, so confirm current rates.

Send the room size, the ceiling height and a photo on WhatsApp. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists the fixture, the wattage and the bulbs or driver, so you can compare it with other quotes and with the indicative ranges on this page.
