Kitchen Cabinets in Pakistan: Designs, Materials, Layouts and Costs
Kitchen cabinets in Pakistan are chosen on four things: the material, the layout, the door finish and the budget. The right mix depends on moisture, how you cook and how long you plan to stay. This guide compares the main materials, matches layouts to room shapes, explains sizes and doors, shows the one cost range we publish and links to a guide for every choice. Start with kitchen design or jump to the material you are considering.
Cabinet materials compared
The carcass and the door can be made from different materials, and moisture is the deciding factor near the sink and hob.
| Material | Strengths | Limits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDF with laminate or acrylic | Smooth, many finishes, good value | Swells if water reaches the core | Dry runs, wall units, most homes |
| HDHMR and moisture-resistant boards | Better water tolerance | Heavier, costs more | Base units near the sink |
| PVC and foam board | Waterproof, termite-proof | Fewer premium looks | Wet kitchens, rentals |
| Aluminium | Waterproof, rust-free, durable | Limited styles, higher cost | Humid or coastal homes |
| Solid wood and plywood | Strong, repairable | Moves with humidity, costs most | Premium classic kitchens |

Layouts that suit your room
The room shape suggests the layout, and a good layout saves steps every day for years. Our kitchen layouts guide compares them all.
| Layout | Works in | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Single wall and galley | Narrow rooms | Small kitchens |
| L-shaped | Corner rooms | L-shaped and U-shaped |
| U-shaped | Medium to large rooms | L-shaped and U-shaped |
| Island or peninsula | Open plan, wide rooms | Island design |
| Open to living area | Modern homes | Open kitchen design |
Sizes and standard dimensions
Base units are commonly about 34 to 36 in high including the countertop and 24 in deep, with wall units about 12 to 15 in deep. Standard widths run in steps of a few inches, and fillers close the gaps. Read kitchen cabinet sizes and dimensions before you measure.
Doors, finishes and colours
The door face decides the look and the upkeep. Laminate and HPL resist wear, acrylic and UV finishes give a glossy modern look, and veneer gives natural grain. See cabinet sheets and doors and kitchen cabinet colours.

Countertops, sinks and accessories
A kitchen is more than boxes. Countertops (including solid surface), sinks, accessories such as drawers, baskets and racks, and appliances all change the cabinet plan, so choose them early.
What kitchen joinery costs: the figure we publish
Our calculator and rates pages use joinery at PKR 1,100 - 2,500 per sq ft of cabinet face, with an average of about PKR 1,520, and a standard kitchen is roughly 60 to 90 sq ft of face. That gives about PKR 66,000 to 225,000 for the cabinets alone. It is a planning range, not a quote, and countertops, sinks and appliances are extra. See kitchen design with prices.
The order of planning
- Measure the room and mark pipes, gas and electrics.
- Choose the layout and the work triangle.
- Choose materials for the carcass and doors.
- Pick countertop, sink and appliances before cabinets are cut.
- Compare written quotes on the same scope.

How we quote
Send the room size, a sketch or photo and the finish you like. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists every item. Before you order, confirm the exact size or model, ask for the specification and warranty in writing, and compare totals including fitting and delivery rather than the item price alone. To get a close first estimate, clear the area, mark sockets, switches and pipe positions, note the ceiling height and photograph the space from two corners.

There is no single best material. Moisture-resistant boards, HDHMR, PVC and aluminium handle water near the sink, while laminate or acrylic-faced MDF suits dry runs and wall units at good value. Solid wood suits premium classic kitchens. Choose by moisture, budget and how long you plan to stay.
Our published planning range is about PKR 1,100 to 2,500 per sq ft of cabinet face, with an average near PKR 1,520, and a standard kitchen is around 60 to 90 sq ft of face. Countertops, sinks and appliances are extra, so ask for a written quote.
Base units are commonly about 34 to 36 in high including the countertop and 24 in deep, and wall units are about 12 to 15 in deep, hung with a gap of roughly 18 to 24 in above the counter. Adjust to the height of the main user.
PVC and foam board cabinets are waterproof and termite-proof, which suits wet kitchens and rentals. They offer fewer premium looks and can be less rigid than boards, so check the thickness and the hardware. Compare them with MDF and aluminium for your budget.
It depends on the size, the materials and the supplier, from a couple of weeks for a standard kitchen to longer for custom work. Confirm the measurement visit, the design approval and the delivery and fitting dates in writing before you pay a deposit.
Yes. The countertop, sink and hob decide the cut-outs, the cabinet widths and the plumbing, so choose them before the cabinets are cut. Changing them later usually means altering finished cabinets, which costs more, takes longer and can leave visible patches in the finish. Bring the model numbers to the measurement visit so the cut-outs and the plumbing are planned correctly from day one.
We supply boards and hardware and confirm what else we can supply for each job. If you use your own carpenter, we can quote the boards, laminates and fittings against your cutting list. Send the details on WhatsApp and we confirm what we can provide.
Send the room size, a photo or sketch and the finish you prefer on WhatsApp. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists the boards, hardware and fittings, so you can compare quotes from different suppliers on the same scope.
