Waterproof Wall Panels for Bathrooms, Kitchens and Shower Walls

Waterproof wall panels let you finish a bathroom, kitchen or laundry wall without tiles, grout or the weeks of mess that come with them. PVC and WPC panels do not absorb water, so they suit wet rooms when they are fitted and sealed properly. This page explains which panels are truly waterproof, where to use them, and how to fit them. It belongs to our wall panels hub.

Which wall panels are really waterproof

Not every wall panel can handle water. The table lists the common materials and how they behave in a wet room. The ratings are general guidance rather than test certificates.

Panel materialIn wet areasWhere to use it
PVC wall panelsDo not absorb water; wipe cleanBathrooms, shower walls, kitchens, laundries
WPC wall panelsWater-resistant compositeKitchens, covered balconies, bathrooms with care
PVC sheetsDo not absorb water; large flat surfaceShower walls and splashbacks
MDF and veneer panelsSwell and fail when wetDry rooms only
Solid wood panelsCan warp and stainDry rooms only

See the full PVC wall panel range for thickness and finish options, and our guide to PVC vs WPC wall panels to compare the two waterproof materials.

Bathrooms and shower walls

Panels replace tiles on bathroom walls with a continuous surface and few joints, which means less grout to clean and less chance for mould to take hold. For a shower wall, use the thickest suitable panel, seal every joint and edge with bathroom-grade sealant, and finish the top and corners with trims. Keep the panel clear of direct heater flames. PVC is the usual choice because it does not absorb water and wipes clean; for a large flat shower wall, a PVC sheet is an alternative (see our PVC sheets).

Kitchen splashbacks and walls

In a kitchen, panels do two jobs: they resist splashes and they wipe clean of oil. Use smooth or tile-look panels behind the sink and counter, and keep the panel away from direct flame on the stove. Seal the edge where the panel meets the counter with a thin line of sealant, so water cannot run behind it and cause damp.

Laundries, utility rooms and balconies

Laundries, utility rooms and store rooms see steam and splashes, so waterproof panels are a practical finish: quick to fit and easy to wipe down. On a covered balcony, WPC panels are an option if the wall is protected from direct rain; ask us before using any interior panel on a wall that gets direct weather.

Panels or tiles in a wet room?

Panels are lighter, quicker to fit and have fewer joints; tiles are harder and last longer in heavy-use areas but need grout and more labour. For a budget refit or a quick turnaround, panels win. For a high-traffic wet room, tiles may still suit you. The table sums up the trade-off.

Strip panels versus large sheets

Standard PVC wall panels are narrow strips that lock side by side, while large flat sheets come in 4 x 8 ft sizes and need fewer joints on a shower wall. See our 4x8 PVC wall sheet for the sheet format. Large sheets need a very flat wall, so check the surface before choosing.

Sealing and fitting essentials

  1. Waterproof the wall base in showers and let it cure fully.
  2. Use moisture-rated adhesive and press each panel firmly.
  3. Leave a small gap at corners and seal it with bathroom-grade sealant.
  4. Seal edges and joints, especially around the tray and taps.
  5. Fit trims last and let everything cure before the first use.

The full fitting process is in our wall panel installation guide.

Waterproof panel rates

PVC and WPC panels are the waterproof options, and these are our standard rates for them. A rate for a specially specified waterproof shower-wall grade or large sheets can differ, so we quote that on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

PVC wall panels and WPC panels are the waterproof options because they do not absorb water, and large PVC sheets work too. MDF, veneer and solid wood panels swell or warp when wet, so they belong in dry rooms only.

Yes, with waterproof PVC or WPC panels and careful fitting. Use the thickest suitable panel, seal every joint and edge with bathroom-grade sealant, and finish corners with trims. Keep panels away from direct heater flames, and let the sealant cure before the first shower.

Use them for splashbacks and walls away from direct flame. Plastic panels should not sit directly over a burner. Keep a safe clearance, and seal the edge against the counter so water cannot run behind the panel and cause damp.

Panels give a continuous surface with fewer joints, so there is less grout to clean and quicker fitting. Tiles are harder but need grout and more labour. Panels are a good fit for budget bathroom refits and quick turnarounds, as long as the joints are sealed well.

We supply PVC sheets in the large 4 x 8 ft format for flat walls. Ask on WhatsApp for current options, and send your wall size and a photo so we can check the layout, the surface and the number of joints before you buy.

Standard PVC panels are Rs 75 to 200 per sq ft and WPC panels Rs 250 to 520, material only, with installation extra. A rate for a specially specified waterproof shower grade or large sheet is quoted on request on WhatsApp.

We arrange installation in Lahore and supply across Pakistan. Send the room, the wall size and a few photos on WhatsApp, and we will quote supply and fitting together in one message, so you deal with a single team for the whole job.
