What a UV marble sheet is made of
The core is PVC, which is waterproof and light. A printed film carries the marble pattern, and a UV-cured layer on top gives the polished shine and protects against scratches and stains. Because the sheet is made in a factory, the pattern is consistent and the edges are straight.
This is different from a UV board, which has an MDF or HDHMR core and is meant for cabinets. This sheet is for cladding walls, not for building furniture.
Sizes and thickness
The standard sheet is 8 x 4 ft (2440 x 1220 mm), which covers 32 sq ft. Thickness ranges from about 3 mm for thin, light sheets up to thicker sheets for harder-wearing walls. A thin sheet needs a flat, sound wall behind it, while a thicker one hides small irregularities better.

Where UV marble sheets work
TV walls and bed-back feature walls are the most common uses. It also suits kitchen splashbacks, bathroom walls above the tray, reception counters, shop fronts and pillar cladding. Because it is waterproof, it is a practical stand-in for tile in damp rooms.
Avoid direct contact with a flame or a very hot surface. Behind a hob, keep a gap or use a heat-resistant panel.
How a UV marble sheet is fixed
Fixing is a dry job, which is why it is popular.
- Prepare the wall: clean, dry, flat and free of loose paint.
- Measure and cut: use a fine-tooth saw or a sharp knife and a straight edge.
- Apply adhesive: use a construction adhesive suited to PVC in a zig-zag or grid.
- Press and level: work from a level line and press the sheet from the centre outwards.
- Finish the joints: use trims or colour-matched sealant at joints and corners.
Care and cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. The surface does not absorb water, which makes it easy to keep clean in kitchens and bathrooms, but a sharp object can still scratch it.
Marble sheet or real marble?
Real marble is heavy, needs professional cutting and polishing, stains and costs far more to install. The sheet is light, can be cut on site and is resistant to water, but it cannot be re-polished and it looks flat in strong side light if the joints are poorly matched.
For feature walls where the look matters more than the material, the sheet is the practical choice. For floors and work surfaces, real stone or porcelain is the correct material.
What affects the rate
