Home Tiles Design: Room-by-Room Tile Choices for Floors, Walls and Outdoor Areas
Home tiles design works best when the whole house is planned together: the floor tile in the lounge flows into the hall, the kitchen and bathroom tiles share a colour family and the outdoor tiles tie the exterior together. This guide gives a room-by-room plan for tile type, size and finish, shows how to keep a consistent look and links to the detail pages. For the types, see our tiles in Pakistan guide.
Plan the whole house
Choose a main floor tile for the public rooms and keep it consistent through the hall, lounge and dining area. Use related tiles in kitchens and bathrooms. A calm base with a few accents looks more expensive than many unrelated tiles. Take photos of each sample in the room itself, by day and at night, and agree the layout and the transition strips between rooms with the fitter before the first box is opened. Keep spare boxes from the same batch for later repairs.
Room-by-room choices
Each room has its own needs.
| Room | Tile | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Lounge and hall | Large-format porcelain | Matte or lightly polished |
| Bedrooms | Porcelain or wood-look | Matte, warm tones |
| Kitchen | Porcelain floor, ceramic backsplash | Matte, easy-clean |
| Bathroom | Anti-slip floor, smooth wall | Textured floor |
| Stairs | Porcelain with grip nosing | Anti-slip |
| Porch and terrace | Outdoor porcelain or stone | Textured |

Keeping a consistent look
Use one colour family, one grout colour in public areas and matching skirting. Vary texture rather than colour between rooms. See tile colours.

How we quote
Send the room size, a sketch or photo and the finish you like. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists every item. Before you order, confirm the exact size or model, ask for the specification and warranty in writing, and compare totals including fitting and delivery rather than the item price alone. To get a close first estimate, clear the area, mark sockets, switches and pipe positions, note the ceiling height and photograph the space from two corners.

Frequently Asked Questions
Pick one main floor tile for the public rooms, use related tiles for kitchens and bathrooms and choose outdoor tiles with grip. Keep one colour family and a consistent grout colour, and vary texture rather than colour between rooms. Ask for the specification in writing so you can compare quotes on the same basis.
A large-format porcelain tile, matte or lightly polished, in a mid-tone suits most living rooms. It gives few joints, hides marks and flows into the hall. Choose a stone or wood look for warmth. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.
Public rooms look best with one continuous tile, which makes the home feel larger. Bathrooms and kitchens may need different finishes for grip and cleaning. Keep the colour family consistent for a smooth look. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the supplier before ordering.
Porcelain tiles with an anti-slip finish and a nosing strip on each step are safe and durable. Match the riser tile to the floor for a clean look, and choose a finish with enough grip for daily use and for wet shoes.
It depends on the area, the tile and the labour. Indicative ranges are about PKR 120 to 450 per sq ft for basic ceramic and PKR 150 to 185 for mid-range porcelain floor tiles, with laying at PKR 40 to 100 per sq ft. Get a written quote.
Send the room size, the tile size you prefer and a photo of the space on WhatsApp. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists the tile, the boxes needed with wastage and the adhesive and grout, so you can compare quotes on the same scope.
