HPL Sheet Price in Pakistan: Grades, Thickness and What Moves the Rate

HPL, or high-pressure laminate, is the hard-wearing decorative surface used on worktops, doors and furniture, and the HPL sheet price in Pakistan depends on whether you buy the laminate alone or a board already faced with it. This guide explains the grades, thicknesses and finishes, the published range for HPL-faced boards, and how to compare quotes. For the laminate range itself, see our lamination sheets page; this page belongs to the MDF and HPL sheets section.

What HPL is and how it is made

HPL is made by soaking layers of kraft paper and a decorative paper in resin and pressing them together under heat and very high pressure. The result is a thin, dense, hard sheet that resists scratches, heat, stains and impact much better than a melamine surface.

It is bonded to a board such as MDF, HDHMR or plywood by a workshop, or bought already bonded as an HPL-faced board.

A general guide to laminate types is on our laminate sheets page.

HPL-faced board against loose laminate

Loose laminate is cheaper per sheet but needs gluing and pressing by the workshop, so the labour and the board are extra. An HPL-faced board arrives ready to cut, which is quicker, and the surface is bonded under factory conditions. Choose loose HPL when you want a specific finish on your own board, and choose a faced board for speed and consistency.

Finishes and where HPL works

HPL comes in gloss, matt, suede, wood-grain and stone textures. It suits kitchen worktops and doors, wardrobes, office desks, reception counters, shop fittings and bathroom vanities. Because the surface is hard and heat-resistant, it is the best common choice for areas that are touched and knocked every day.

Our HPL sheets in Lahore page covers local supply and use.

Cleaning, edges and what to avoid

Wipe HPL with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents, which dull the finish. The surface tolerates heat better than melamine, but a very hot pan should still go on a mat. Edges are the weak point: use a matching edge band or a postformed edge, and seal cut-outs so water cannot reach the board behind the laminate.

HPL against melamine

Melamine boards are cheaper and ready to cut, but chip more easily and mark under hard use. HPL costs more, resists heat and impact, and lasts longer on worktops and doors. See the melamine sheets page for a side-by-side view.

The published range for HPL-faced boards

On our MDF board guide, an HPL-faced or laminated 8 x 4 ft board is listed at PKR 2,500 to 7,000 per sheet, depending on core, thickness, brand and finish. A loose HPL sheet is priced separately, and rates for specific grades and finishes are confirmed on the day.

HPL Sheets: Frequently Asked Questions

HPL-faced or laminated 8 x 4 ft boards are listed at about PKR 2,500 to 7,000 per sheet on our MDF board guide, depending on the core, thickness, brand and finish. Loose HPL and compact HPL are priced separately, so send us the details for a current written rate.

HPL is one kind of decorative laminate, made under high pressure and heat for a harder, more durable surface. The word laminate also covers cheaper melamine and PVC films. Ask which type is being quoted, because the rates and the durability differ.

General-purpose HPL for doors, wardrobes and counters is typically about 0.8 to 1 mm. Compact HPL, several millimetres thick, is used for partitions and lab tops without a board behind it. The board and the glue matter as much as the laminate thickness.

The surface itself does not absorb water, but the board behind it can swell if water reaches a cut edge. Use a moisture-resistant core such as HDHMR or BWR plywood in wet rooms, and seal every edge and cut-out carefully.

A faced board saves time and is made under controlled conditions, which gives consistent bonding. Loose HPL on your own board gives more choice of finish but depends on workshop skill and equipment. For large jobs with one finish, a faced board is usually simpler.

Send the type, thickness, finish, size and quantity on WhatsApp. We reply with a written rate per sheet that is current on that day, and we can suggest the right board to put behind it if you tell us the room.
