PVC Doors in Pakistan: Types, Thickness, Finishes and Where They Fit
PVC doors are the practical answer for rooms that get wet: they do not swell, rot or feed termites, they are light to hang and they wipe clean. Quality varies widely, from thin hollow leaves to thicker foam-filled ones, so thickness, core and finish decide how a door feels and lasts. This guide explains the types, the thickness choices, where to use them, their limits and what to check before you buy. For the rigid window-grade version, see our uPVC range, and for cost see door price in Pakistan.
What a PVC door leaf is
A PVC door leaf is made from PVC sheets or extruded boards, with a hollow or foam core, and is hung in a PVC, steel, wood or MDF frame. Surfaces can be plain white, wood-look or textured. They are light and fully waterproof, and many are made for bathrooms and kitchens.
Hollow, foam-filled and panel leaves
Three build types are common.
| Build | Feel | Strengths | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hollow extruded | Light, can flex | Lowest cost, waterproof | Weak edges, can sound hollow |
| Foam-filled | Firmer, quieter | Better rigidity and sound | Costs more |
| Panel or moulded | Patterned surface | Looks closer to a panel door | Check the joints |

Thickness and strength
Thicker leaves are stiffer and hold hinges and locks better. A very thin leaf can flex and let the hinge loosen over time. Ask for the measured thickness and the core type, and use three hinges on taller leaves. A foam-filled leaf of reasonable thickness costs more than a thin hollow one, but it sounds firmer when closed, holds screws better and resists dents from daily use. In rental homes and hostels, where doors are slammed often, the extra thickness usually pays for itself within a few years.
Where they work
Use them in bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, laundries, stores and balconies with shelter. They are also popular in rental homes and hostels for low upkeep. For sliding versions see PVC sliding doors, and for bathroom specifics see bathroom doors.

Limits to know
PVC does not match the premium feel of solid wood and is not a security door. It also cannot be carved or polished like timber, and large cut-outs weaken the leaf. Direct sun can fade or warp thin leaves, and cheap leaves can crack at the lock. Choose UV-stable products and avoid fully exposed entrances. If strength matters, see fiber doors or steel. For how sellers use the term chemical door, see the note on chemical doors.
What to check before buying
- Thickness and core, measured and written down.
- Flatness: sight along the leaf for bows.
- Edges and corners: should be sealed and tight.
- Frame and hardware that suit the leaf.

PVC Doors: Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. PVC does not absorb water, so it will not swell, rot or warp from moisture, and termites do not feed on it. That makes it one of the best materials for bathrooms and kitchens. A good frame and a corrosion-resistant lock complete a durable wet-room door.
A well-made PVC leaf lasts many years in a damp room because moisture does not damage it. Hinges, locks and the frame usually wear first, and direct sun can fade or warp thin leaves. Choose a thicker leaf and quality hardware for longer life.
They are strong enough for bathrooms, kitchens and internal rooms, but not a security solution. Thicker foam-filled leaves are firmer and hold hinges better than thin hollow ones. For entrances or anywhere security matters, choose a solid wooden or steel door.
Yes. Many leaves are available with wood-look finishes and textured surfaces, and some have panel patterns. Quality varies, so look at a full-size sample in daylight and check the finish at the edges, where thin film finishes may peel on cheap leaves.
PVC door leaves are usually light, hollow or foam-filled leaves used for rooms and bathrooms. uPVC, unplasticised PVC, is a rigid material used for window and door profiles with glazing and weather seals. They suit different jobs, so choose by use and exposure.
