Decorative Acoustic Panels: Wood Slat, Fabric, Felt and Perforated Designs
Decorative acoustic panels cut echo and look good doing it, so they work as a feature wall and a sound treatment at the same time. Instead of grey foam, you can choose wood slat panels, fabric-wrapped panels in rich colours, felt tiles and perforated boards. This guide explains how each design works, which rooms suit it, how to judge the sound absorption and what to ask before you order. Published rates are on our acoustic panels price page.
How decorative acoustic panels work
A decorative acoustic panel has a styled face over a sound-absorbing core. Sound passes through the slots, perforations or fabric and is absorbed by the material behind, which shortens the echo. The result is a room that sounds calmer and looks finished, with no visible foam.
The main designs compared
The face decides the look, and the core decides the sound.

Wood slat acoustic panels
Wood slat panels are the most requested design right now. Timber battens sit over a felt or fibre backing, and the gaps let sound through to be absorbed. Choose the slat width and the gap for the look you want, and the veneer or melamine finish for the colour. They suit walls and ceilings in lounges, offices and restaurants.
Fabric-wrapped and felt panels
Fabric panels wrap an absorbent core in acoustic fabric and give the most reliable absorption for the price, in a wide range of colours. Felt tiles are thinner and more graphic, and can be cut into shapes for a feature wall. Both are good choices when you want colour and a softer look than wood.
Reading the sound absorption rating
The noise reduction coefficient, NRC, runs from 0 to 1, and higher means more absorption. Our panels range from about 0.65 to 0.95 depending on the type. A beautiful panel with a low rating will look good but do little for echo, so ask for the NRC and the thickness before you choose by looks alone.

Where to use decorative panels
Put them on the wall behind the sofa or bed, behind the TV, in a home office, a meeting room, a restaurant or a reception. In a room with hard floors and bare walls, a few well-placed panels often make more difference than covering everything. See our placement guide for where to start.
When foam is a better choice
If looks are not important, as in a podcast room or studio, acoustic foam panels cost less and absorb well. For a home or office where the wall is seen every day, a decorative panel is usually worth the extra.

Decorative Acoustic Panels: Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, if the face is open or perforated and the core is absorbent. Sound passes through the slots or fabric and is absorbed behind. A panel's NRC rating tells you how much it absorbs, so check the rating and thickness instead of trusting the appearance alone.
Our published range for acoustic wood panels is about PKR 350 to 600 per sq ft for the material, with fitting at PKR 50 to 80 per sq ft extra. The final rate depends on the slat design, finish and size, so send us the wall dimensions for a written rate.
Wood slat panels suit a feature wall behind a sofa or TV and give a warm look, while fabric panels give colour and soft absorption for bedrooms and cinemas. Choose by the look you want, then confirm the rating and the coverage the room needs.
Yes. Slat and felt panels are used on ceilings, especially in restaurants and open offices, where sound bounces between hard surfaces. The fixing needs a proper frame or track, so ask for fitting advice for the ceiling type and the weight of the panel.
No. They absorb sound inside the room and reduce echo, but they do not block noise passing through walls or windows. For outside noise, you need soundproofing, such as sealed gaps, heavier walls and better glazing. Panels and soundproofing often work best together.
Send the wall size, the design or colour you like and a photo of the space on WhatsApp. We suggest a panel, tell you how much coverage to plan and reply with a written rate that lists the type, thickness, size and fitting, so you can compare quotes.
