Exhaust Blower for Kitchen in Pakistan: Choosing CFM and Static Pressure, Motor Power, Centrifugal or Mixed-Flow, Hood Pairing and Rates
The right exhaust blower for kitchen use is chosen from two numbers: how much air it moves, in cubic feet per minute, and how much resistance it can push against, called static pressure. A blower with a big airflow number but low pressure will still disappoint on a long duct. This page explains how to read both figures, how to size for a home or a commercial kitchen, the difference between centrifugal and mixed-flow types and indicative rates. For installation see kitchen blower fan and for the difference with fans see kitchen blower.
CFM and static pressure
CFM is the volume of air moved in a minute. Static pressure is the resistance, in pascals or inches of water, that the fan can overcome. Ducts, bends, filters and hoods create resistance, so a blower must give enough CFM at the pressure of your system. The maker's curve shows CFM at different pressures.

How much CFM
A home kitchen with a gas stove commonly needs 300 to 600 CFM from the hood, more for heavy frying. A commercial kitchen needs far more, calculated from the hood size. A rough rule is about 100 CFM per linear foot of hood for a wall-mounted unit. Add 20 to 30 percent for duct losses.
Indicative rates
Rates depend on size, power and type. These indicative ranges show common retail figures.
| Item | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Home blower, 150 to 350 CFM | PKR 4,700 - 13,900 |
| Home blower, 400 to 700 CFM | PKR 9,900 - 32,900 |
| Heavy blower, 800 CFM and above | PKR 19,500 - 39,000 |
| Commercial blower, quoted | PKR 45,000 - 150,000 |
| Hood plus blower set, home | PKR 30,000 - 70,000 |
Prices move with brand, model, size and stock. Use these ranges to judge a quote, then compare the exact model and what is included.

Centrifugal or mixed-flow
Centrifugal blowers give high pressure and suit long ducts and filter hoods. Mixed-flow fans give good airflow at moderate pressure and fit inline in a duct. For a typical home with a short duct, either is fine. For a restaurant or a long run, choose centrifugal. See ventilation fans for inline units.
Motor power and supply
Home blowers use 100 to 300 watts on single-phase supply. Commercial blowers may need 0.5 to 3 horsepower and three-phase supply. Check the supply before ordering, and use the right breaker and cable. Fixed wiring should be done by a licensed electrician.
Pairing with a hood
The hood sets how much smoke is captured, and the blower provides the pull. A hood with a mesh or baffle filter adds resistance, so the blower must overcome it. Choose the hood and blower together, and ask the supplier for the airflow at the filter resistance. See exhaust hoods.
What to check before buying
- Performance curve. CFM at your pressure.
- Collar size. Match the duct.
- Motor and supply. Single or three-phase.
- Noise rating. Ask for it.
- Warranty and parts. Ask for both.
Commercial kitchens
Restaurants and canteens need hoods with grease filters, ducts of metal and a blower sized by the hood area. Fire safety rules apply, and cleaning of the duct is essential. Get a design from a ventilation supplier rather than guessing. For homes, see kitchen ventilation design.
Frequently Asked Questions
A home kitchen with a gas stove commonly needs 300 to 600 CFM at the hood, more for heavy frying. Add 20 to 30 percent for duct losses. A commercial kitchen needs far more and should be designed from the hood size.
It is the resistance a fan can push air against. Ducts, bends and filters create resistance, so a blower must deliver enough airflow at the pressure of your system. The maker's curve shows this. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.
Centrifugal gives high pressure for long ducts and filter hoods. Mixed-flow gives good airflow at moderate pressure inline. For a short home run either works. For long runs or restaurants choose centrifugal. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the seller before ordering.
Home blowers are about PKR 4,700 to 39,000 depending on size, while commercial blowers are quoted and can cost PKR 45,000 to 150,000 or more. A hood and blower set costs about PKR 30,000 to 70,000. Rates and stock change, so confirm the current position before you commit.
A small bathroom fan is not built for grease, heat or filter resistance. Use a kitchen-rated blower or hood and size it for the stove. A bathroom fan will clog and wear out quickly. If you are unsure, send a photo and the measurements and we will advise.
Usually the same working day once you send the quantity, the size or rating and a photo. The reply is a written rate with the model, warranty and delivery listed, so you can compare it against other quotes line by line. Rates and stock change, so confirm the current position before you commit.
