Portable and Plastic Wardrobes: Types, Strength, Assembly and Price Ranges
Portable and plastic wardrobes are the quick, low-cost answer for rented homes, hostels, students and temporary storage. They assemble in minutes, move easily and cost a fraction of a fitted wardrobe, but they are light and not built to last as long. This guide covers the types, how strong they really are, how to assemble and load them, how humidity and heat affect them and the indicative price ranges. For longer-term options, see steel wardrobes.

Frequently Asked Questions
They are a good short-term answer for rented homes, hostels and students: cheap, quick to assemble and easy to move. They are lighter and shorter-lived than fitted or steel wardrobes, so choose a sturdy steel frame, respect the load rating and place them away from damp.
Indicative prices are around PKR 4,500 to 6,500 for 3-door folding fabric wardrobes on steel frames, and a few hundred rupees for organisers and boxes. Prices vary with size and frame quality, so confirm today's rate before ordering. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.
Only up to its rated load. Overloading bends the frame and tears fabric, so keep heavy items low, spread the weight and do not exceed the rail rating. For heavy winter clothes, a steel or fitted wardrobe is a better choice. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the supplier before ordering.
Good plastic units can last several years, but sun can fade and embrittle plastic, and cracks appear under load. Keep them out of direct sunlight, do not overload them and choose thicker, well-braced designs for longer life.
Fabric can trap moisture and develop musty smells, so leave air gaps, avoid damp external walls and use moisture absorbers. Plastic handles damp better but still needs ventilation. For very humid homes, steel or aluminium is safer. If in doubt, send a photo and the measurements and we will advise.
