Rubber Sheet Guide: Natural, SBR, Neoprene and EPDM Sheets, Thickness and Hardness, Oil and Weather Resistance, Uses for Gaskets, Floors and Workshops, Cutting, Indicative Rates Per Kg and Square Foot in Pakistan

A rubber sheet is a flat, flexible sheet of natural or synthetic rubber used for gaskets, workshop floors, table covers, machine pads and sealing, and the right type depends on oil, heat and weather exposure. Prices run from about PKR 350 to PKR 1,800 per kg. This page covers natural, SBR, neoprene and EPDM sheets, thickness and hardness, oil and weather resistance, uses for gaskets, floors and workshops, cutting, rates per kg and square foot. It also covers rubber sheet price searches. For related pages see rubber floor tiles, boards and PVC plastic sheet.

Types of rubber sheet

  • Natural rubber. Elastic and tough, weak against oil.
  • SBR. Economical general-purpose sheet.
  • Neoprene. Resists oil, flame and weather.
  • EPDM. Excellent weather, ozone and water resistance.

Prices move with brand, model, size and stock. Use these ranges to judge a quote, then compare the exact model and what is included.

Thickness and hardness

Sheets run from 1 to 25 mm thick, and hardness is measured in Shore A. Softer sheets seal better, harder sheets carry loads.

Oil and weather resistance

Natural rubber degrades with oil and sun, while neoprene and EPDM last outdoors or near oil. Match the type to the exposure.

Uses

Common uses include gaskets, anti-slip mats, machine pads, workshop floors, table covers and vibration isolation.

Cutting

Cut with a sharp blade, wet with soapy water for thick sheets and use templates for gaskets. Wear gloves.

Care

Clean with mild soap and keep from solvents. Cutting and fixing should be done by a trained carpenter with the right blades, edge banding and fixings for the board.

Before you decide

Match the rubber type to oil, heat and weather, and choose thickness by use. Ask for a small cut sample to test flexibility and smell, and confirm the hardness rating in writing, because soft and hard grades look identical on a roll. Check that the sheet is free of air bubbles and that thickness is even across the width. Measure the job and add 8 to 10 percent for cuts and waste, compare at least two quotes on the same board, thickness, face and edge finish, and keep the invoice and any warranty. Ask for a physical sample or a cut piece so you can check the face, the core and the edge in your own light, and confirm the full sheet size because 8 by 4 feet, 7 by 4 feet and metric sizes are all sold. Store sheets flat, off the floor and away from damp, because boards bow when stacked badly. Prices change with material costs, exchange rates and stock, so confirm the current figure before you decide, and be careful with very low prices that hide thin faces or weak cores.
