Capacity and size
A 20 L microwave suits one or two people, 25 to 30 L suits families and 40 L or more suits large dishes. Measure the space and the door swing, and check that the turntable fits your plates.
Controls and features
Mechanical dials are simple and reliable, and digital controls add presets and timers. Look for a child lock, an interior light and easy-clean surfaces. More presets rarely matter, so spend on build quality and warranty.
Countertop or built-in
