Induction Hob Price in Pakistan: How Induction Cooking Works, Single and Double Zone Built-In Hobs, Cookware, Power and Wiring Needs

Induction hob price in Pakistan runs from about PKR 14,000 for a single-zone portable unit to PKR 100,000 for a premium built-in model, and an induction hob heats the pan directly with a magnetic field, so it is fast, safe to touch and efficient. This page explains how it works, the zone types, the cookware you need, the power and wiring a built-in hob requires, indicative rates and what to check. It compares with gas and electric hobs. For other hobs see hobs and hob stoves.

How an induction hob works

A coil under the glass creates an alternating magnetic field. It makes currents in the base of a magnetic pan, which heats the pan itself. The glass stays cooler, only warming from the pan. When you lift the pan the heating stops, which is why induction is fast and safe, with no flame and no gas leak.

Cookware

Induction needs cookware with a magnetic base: cast iron, many stainless steels and enamelled steel. Test with a fridge magnet: if it sticks firmly to the base, the pan works. Aluminium, copper and glass pans do not work unless they have a magnetic plate. Flat bases give the best contact.

Power and wiring

A single zone uses 1.5 to 2.2 kilowatts, and a 2-zone hob up to 3.5 kilowatts. Many built-in hobs need their own circuit, a 20 to 32 A breaker and thick cable, not a normal socket. Check the supply and the load before buying, because a weak supply gives poor performance. Fixed plumbing and gas work should be done by a licensed plumber or gas fitter.

Induction versus gas

Induction heats faster, controls temperature precisely and keeps the kitchen cooler, and it is a good fit with solar. Gas works in a power cut and takes any pan. In Pakistan, with load-shedding and gas shortages, some homes keep both. See infrared versus induction cookers.

Features worth having

  • Boost mode. Fast heating for boiling.
  • Timer and auto-off. Safety when you walk away.
  • Child lock. Prevents accidental use.
  • Residual heat indicator. Shows a warm zone.
  • Pan detection. Stops heating without a pan.

What to check before buying

  • Power per zone. And the total load.
  • Cut-out size. Match your counter.
  • Voltage range. For weak supply.
  • Warranty and service. Ask for it in writing.
  • Cookware compatibility. Check your pans.

Care

Wipe the glass after it cools, avoid sliding rough pans and keep the vents clear. A glass crack means stop using it. For counter cut-outs and finishes, see kitchen slabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

A portable single-zone unit is about PKR 12,000 to 25,000, a built-in 2-zone hob about PKR 30,000 to 70,000 and a 4-zone hob about PKR 60,000 to 100,000, depending on brand and features. Ask for the specification in writing so you can compare quotes on the same basis.

Cookware with a magnetic base, such as cast iron, many stainless steels and enamelled steel. Test with a fridge magnet: if it sticks to the base, it works. Aluminium and copper alone do not. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.

Many built-in hobs need their own circuit with a 20 to 32 A breaker and thick cable. A normal socket is not suitable. A licensed electrician should check your supply and wiring. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the seller before ordering.

Often similar or lower in efficiency, but it depends on gas and electricity rates and supply. Induction is faster and more precise, but needs steady power, so some homes keep a gas hob too. Rates and stock change, so confirm the current position before you commit.

It is safer than a flame because the glass stays cooler and heating stops without a pan. Use the child lock and auto-off, and take care with the residual heat after cooking. If you are unsure, send a photo and the measurements and we will advise.
