What "Vinyl" Actually Means
"Vinyl flooring" covers a few products: flexible sheet vinyl (rolled), and LVT (luxury vinyl tile/plank) which clicks or sticks down. Both are fully waterproof, softer and warmer underfoot than tile, and among the most budget-friendly floors available. The trade-off: the flexible types can, over years, telegraph small bumps in the subfloor beneath them.
What SPC Is
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) is a rigid-core plank — a limestone-and-PVC composite core with a printed wear layer on top. That rigid core makes it dimensionally stable: it barely expands or contracts with heat, resists dents, and locks together tightly. It's the strongest middle-ground floor — better durability than flexible vinyl, lower cost than real wood.
