Without an extractor fan or a window, steam will damage any wallpaper. Fit or repair ventilation, and run the fan during and after showers. Dry walls are essential before papering.

Fix leaks and damp, remove old paint flaking or mould and fill holes. Apply a primer or sealer made for bathrooms so the paste does not soak in. Let everything dry fully before papering.
