📖 5 min read🔄 Updated July 2026✅ Prices checked vs live rates

If you just need the price of a single MDF board, this is the page. Below is the per-board range, how thickness and grade move it, and how to work out how many boards your project needs. Prices mirror our live MDF & HPL sheets page.

The Short Answer

A full 8×4 ft MDF board in Pakistan runs from about PKR 1,500 for a thin 6mm sheet to PKR 9,000+ for a thick 25mm or laminated board. The single biggest driver is thickness, followed by grade (standard vs moisture-resistant) and brand. The table below gives the real per-thickness ranges seen across the market in 2026.

How to read these: these are indicative market ranges gathered from Pakistani suppliers and retail listings, not a fixed Finishes.pk quote. MDF uses imported inputs, so prices shift with the exchange rate — WhatsApp us for the exact figure on the day you buy.

Cost by Thickness (Standard MDF, 8×4 ft)

ThicknessPrice per board≈ per sqftTypical use
6mmPKR 1,500 – 2,500~47–78Back panels, lamination backing
9mmPKR 2,000 – 3,000~63–94Light panelling, drawer bottoms
12mmPKR 2,500 – 4,000~78–125Shelving, cabinet parts
18mmPKR 3,500 – 5,500~110–172Wardrobes, carcasses, doors
25mmPKR 6,000 – 9,000~188–281Worktops, heavy shelving

MR (moisture-resistant) MDF costs more than standard of the same thickness, and laminated / HPL-faced or UV-high-gloss boards more again — an 18mm laminated board can reach PKR 9,500. Local brands (Lasani, ZRK, KMI) tend to hold steadier prices than imported stock, which swings with the rupee. See our MDF board buyer's guide for grades explained.

How Many Boards Will You Need? (Worked Example)

Board count is where budgets go wrong, so here's a realistic example. A standard 6ft × 7ft two-door wardrobe typically works out at:

  • Carcass, shelves & doors — 18mm: about 3 boards. At PKR 3,500–5,500 each that's roughly PKR 10,500–16,500.
  • Back panel — 6mm: 1 board, roughly PKR 1,500–2,500.
  • Indicative material total: PKR 12,000–19,000 for the boards, before laminate/veneer facing, edge banding, hardware and carpentry.

Scale up from there: a full kitchen's base and wall units can run 8–12 boards, and built-in TV or study units 2–4. Facing (laminate or veneer), hinges, handles and the carpenter's labour are all on top of the board cost — for furniture, the boards are usually only 30–45% of the finished price.

Avoid over-ordering: send us your cutting list or a rough drawing and we'll calculate the exact board count and total, factoring in how many parts fit per 8×4 sheet so you don't pay for sheets you won't use.

How to Buy Smart

Three quick ways to keep the cost down: buy full boards rather than off-cuts where you can (better per-sqft value), match the thickness to the job (there's no point paying for 18mm where 12mm will do a shelf), and choose a stable local brand if the rupee is moving. If you're laminating on site, remember to budget separately for lamination sheets or order pre-laminated board.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a general market guide in 2026, a full 8x4 ft MDF board runs from about PKR 1,500 for a thin 6mm sheet to PKR 9,000+ for a thick 25mm or laminated board — for example roughly PKR 2,500–4,000 at 12mm and PKR 3,500–5,500 at 18mm. Moisture-resistant (MR) and laminated boards cost more. These are indicative market ranges, not a fixed quote — WhatsApp us your exact thickness and quantity for a current per-board price.

18mm is the most-used thickness for wardrobes and cabinet carcasses, so it is the most searched. A single standard 18mm board typically runs about PKR 3,500–5,500 in the 2026 market, with MR (waterproof) grade and laminated boards costing more (an 18mm laminated board can reach around PKR 9,500). These are market ranges, not a fixed quote — send your quantity on WhatsApp for a current 18mm rate and bulk pricing.

Yes. Moisture-resistant (MR) MDF, recognisable by its green core, costs more than standard MDF of the same thickness because of the treatment that resists swelling. It is worth it for kitchens, bathrooms and humid areas where standard MDF would fail.

MDF is usually sold per full 8x4 ft board (or 9x4 ft), not per square foot. Some suppliers will cut a board to size for a fee. For a project, tell us the sizes you need and we'll quote whole boards plus any cutting.

It depends on the design, but as a rough guide a standard wardrobe uses several 18mm boards for the carcass plus thinner boards for the back panel. Send us your cutting list or a rough drawing on WhatsApp and we'll estimate the board count and total cost.
