Bathroom Design in Pakistan: Layouts, Fixture Positions, Clearances, Finishes and Budget
Good bathroom design starts with the layout, not the fittings: where the door opens, where the wet zone sits and how the commode, basin and shower share a small room. Once the plan works, tiles, fixtures, lighting and storage follow. This guide covers layouts, clearances, zones, finishes, lighting, ventilation and a budget order, with links to the detail pages. For small rooms, see small bathroom design.
Start with the layout
Common layouts follow the room shape.
| Room size | Typical layout | Note |
|---|---|---|
| About 5 x 8 ft | Commode, basin, shower in a line | Most common |
| About 6 x 9 ft | Shower at the end, vanity opposite | More storage |
| About 8 x 10 ft | Separate shower and tub | Family bathroom |
| Compact toilet | Commode and corner basin | Guest use |

Clearances that work
Leave at least about 21 inches in front of a commode and basin, about 15 inches from the centre of a commode to a side wall, and a door that does not hit fixtures. See the bathroom size and layout guide. Mark the fixture outlines on the floor with tape before the plumber starts, and walk through the movements of a normal morning, because a layout that looks fine on paper can feel cramped when a door, a towel rail and a shower screen all compete for the same space. Allow for a person to turn and dress in the shower area.
Wet and dry zones
Keep the shower in one zone and slope the floor to a drain. Waterproof the whole wet area and the lower walls before tiling, and test the membrane with water for 24 hours. Separate wet and dry areas with a glass screen or a curb. See floor drains and bathroom shower.
Tiles and finishes
Choose anti-slip floors and easy-clean walls. See bathroom tiles design and match the metal finish across the faucets, shower and accessories.
Lighting and ventilation
Use moisture-rated lights, bright light at the mirror and an exhaust fan or window to remove steam. See lighting.
Budget order
Spend first on plumbing, waterproofing and the floor, then fixtures, then fittings and accessories. Keep a reserve for hidden pipe repairs, which are common in older houses, and write the agreed scope on every quote. See bathroom renovation cost.
How we quote
Send the room size, a sketch or photo and the finish you like. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists every item. Before you order, confirm the exact size or model, ask for the specification and warranty in writing, and compare totals including fitting and delivery rather than the item price alone. To get a close first estimate, clear the area, mark sockets, switches and pipe positions, note the ceiling height and photograph the space from two corners.

Frequently Asked Questions
Start with the room size and door position, place the commode, basin and shower in the order of plumbing access, keep clearances and separate wet and dry zones. A scaled sketch avoids mistakes. Ask for the specification in writing so you can compare quotes on the same basis.
At least about 21 inches in front of the commode and basin, about 15 inches from the commode centre to a side wall and a door that opens without hitting fixtures. Shower areas need enough room to move comfortably. Check the warranty terms and who honours them before you pay.
Use anti-slip floor tiles, easy-clean wall tiles, moisture-resistant paint above the tiles and one metal finish across faucets, showers and accessories. Light colours suit small bathrooms. Measure carefully and confirm sizes with the supplier before ordering.
Yes, or a window, to remove steam and prevent mould. Fit it away from the shower and vent it outside. Poor ventilation damages paint, cabinets and grout. If in doubt, send a photo and the measurements and we will advise.
It depends on the size, the tiles and the fixtures. Plan the order of spending and compare quotes on the same scope. See our renovation cost guide for a breakdown. If in doubt, send a photo and the measurements and we will advise.
Send the bathroom size, the items you want and a photo of the space on WhatsApp. We confirm what we can supply and reply with a written rate that lists every fitting, so you can compare quotes on the same scope.
